Bass Guitar Chords
Since bass players play “notes” over 98% of the time – it makes sense that they understand the notes associated with the different chords. These Bass Guitar Chords will assist you with finding notes within each of the chords to play in addition to playing just root notes (you really don’t want to be stuck just playing root notes all the time – that would be pretty boring). This knowledge will take your playing to a whole new level.
Chords – A Quick Definition:
Chords are a combination of three or more notes sounded simultaneously (played at the same time), and are mostly used with Guitar / Piano playing.
Root Notes: The “Root Note” is the note that chords, arpeggios, and scales are named after (the root is the “primary” note of the chord).
One of the “simplest” parts of playing the bass is understanding the “Root” note of chords. Use this Rule – When you see a chord diagram simply play the chord name – because the “root” note is the same as the “letter” name of the chord (for an “A” chord, play an “A” note, etc).
